Easy, Eco-friendly Gift Tags

Yesterday, I posted about how I’m already preparing hostess gifts for all of the parties I have planned this year (and also a few parties maybe I haven’t planned). I mentioned that I printed out homemade gift tags on recycled cardboard, and I promised you that I’d give you the download! Well, a promise is a promise.

Gift Tag How-To

Let’s walk through the step-by-step.

1. Download the gift tag PDF here.
2. Cut up some old pieces of cardboard to about the size of a piece of 8.5 x 11″ piece of paper. I find that cereal boxes and old shipping envelopes work best.
3. Load the cardboard into your printer (first do a test sheet to figure out if the cardboard side should face up or down), and print it like a normal piece of paper. You may need to try a few times to get the graphic perfectly onto the cardboard.
4. Use a hole punch to make it easy to tie onto gifts.

In total, it took me about 30 minutes to print the labels and cut them out. I like to keep all the extras with the rest of my gift wrapping supplies so I’ll always have a few on hand.

Also, this project was 100% F-R-E-E!

What do you think? Are gift tag stickers more your style or do you make your own every year? Also, are you incorporating an eco-ideas into your gift giving this season? I’d love to hear about all your holiday-related projects!
